Well my baby is OFFICIALLY one year old!! This time last year we were snuggling him in the hospital, being soo careful while swaddling him up, and now he is wrecking ball tearing apart our home as he gains more confidence walking each day! Time really does fly and even though covid is still a big issue, we wanted to celebrate our little guy and this major milestone! We ended up throwing a little backyard cookout party with our parents, my grandmother, and some of our closest friends. We were all vaccinated, which was a huge relief when thinking about his mini-party. The weather was a bit spotty, so we moved back and forth between our sunroom and backyard, but it was overall a great day celebrating the little man!
We had simple decorations for his party. My mom and I made this display of his monthly milestone photos, and I found a cute happy birthday banner on etsy! I also bought the crown and his ONE shirt from etsy shops. I bought some balloons the morning of the party – and we were set. A festive, but very simple first birthday party!
As for the smash cake, I made a simple vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and decorated with sprinkles. The cake was supposed to be “healthier” for babies by including less sugar, but I doubled the icing so it all evened out in the end, haha! Lewis definitely enjoyed every single bite of his cake!! My mom also made the cute high chair decoration!
He also let me have a little photoshoot with him before the party where he magically kept the crown on his head for a good twenty minutes – a true angel, lol!
