In general, I always recommend for you and your family to wear something that you feel totally comfortable in. If you are hesitant while getting an outfit together, then it probably isn't the right choice. Definitely check out my Pinterest board for outfit inspiration before you start organizing your own outfits! I also send clients a styling guide with a few tips to keep in mind. Lastly, my clients have access to my client wardrobe, which offers a variety of dresses. Take a look at the current selection HERE!
what do i wear to my session?
I have a beautiful studio space that was actually once a classroom in the Bethel Park Schoolhouse. The schoolhouse was built in 1905 and the whole building has been perfectly restored. Also, an added bonus, one of the best coffee shops in town, Reginalds Coffee, is right below the studio!

do you have a studio?
If you have older children who will be at your session, it definitely helps to talk them through what is about to happen and let them know its okay to be silly and have fun with family in front of the camera! In newborn sessions, we'll always try to get sibling photos done first so that they can run and play for the rest of the session. With younger kiddos, bring along a few toys or snacks to use as distractions if we need it! We'll start without any, but if/when your child starts to lose focus, we can add in toys to keep them involved and entertained. Just be prepared to potentially have those toys in your shot - so if you don't want your child's purple and orange stuffed dino in your Mama + Me photos, then best to leave that one at home :) Lastly, make sure children of any age are fed beforehand - no one likes taking photos on an empty stomach!
How should I prepare my children?
Oh how I wish I could change the weather! If its definite rain in the forecast, like 100% all day or storms, then we'll make the call early, but if it looks like it may stop I always try to wait it out and make the call about an hour or so beforehand! Some of the best lighting comes from after a rain shower. If weather is bad, you may choose to instead do a session at my studio in Bethel Park on the original date, or reschedule. I ask my clients to be flexible and understanding when it comes to the weather (PGH weather is crazy!!), and I always try my best to make sessions happen on our original date!
What if there is bad weather on the day of our outdoor session?
There are so many options! It really comes down to what you are looking for in your photos. We'll pick somewhere that matches your vision, and hopefully is special to you. I have spots all around the city that I can recommend to you, as well, so we will come up with the perfect location.
Where will we go for our outdoor location?
ASAP! I've had a woman contact me before she even told their husband, lol! But in all seriousness, once you know you want to book with me, reach out! My schedule fills up fast since I am still taking limited bookings with two young kiddos. Most women reach out around 20 weeks, but the earlier the better to get you on my calendar! If you are thinking, "Oh shoot! I'm 32 weeks right now!" don't worry! Fill out my contact form and I'm sure I'll be able to find a time for you.
when should i schedule my maternity + Newborn photos?
Yes! Gift certificates are such a thoughtful gift for all of the mamas in your life! Whether they are expecting or already have a little one at home, a session with me would make a great gift for any holiday (or just because!!). One thing to keep in mind though, is that photos are an investment. So definitely be sure that whoever is receiving the gift certificate actually likes my style of photography and would be happy with a session from me!
