When deciding on a location for your session, there are a lot of factors to consider! What time of year is it? Is it a newborn session? Do you want outdoor photos or inside? If you are leaning towards inside – you then have to choose between in-home or in-studio. In this blog post, I’m going to breakdown a few benefits of taking photos in a studio, and why it might be the best choice for your session!

1. LIGHTING

Studios are a great option if you want indoor photos but your home is not very well lit. I can work around most any lighting situation, but obviously a studio flooded with natural light will take better photos than an apartment with one window. So if you have a feeling your home would be a little tricky for photos, a studio may be the best option!

2. STYLE

Because I do not have a studio of my own, I have the luxury of presenting you with several options for studios around town. You’ll get to decide exactly what vibe you are going for with your session, and it can help decide what outfits you wear and the whole vision! I have worked in studios that range from boho, industrial, romantic, rustic, and beyond, so no matter what you are looking for, we can find a good fit.

3. FUN

It is just plain fun to rent a studio! It feels like an event and the energy is super fun in a studio. We’ll play music, you’ll get ready, your kids will have fun running around a new environment, and we’ll make an afternoon of it all! Sometimes when shooting in-home, its easy for kids to get bored and retreat to what they’d normally be doing. A studio provides a new experience for them, and it really shows in the photos!
